Aslan Maskhadov threatens candidates in Moscow-organized Chechen presidential campaignTimur Aliyev, North Caucasus - The Ichkerian State Defence Committee, headed by Aslan Maskhadov, warned about wreaking vengeance on all Chechen presidential candidates, according to the Committee's resolution published in the underground newspaper "Ichkeria".
Those to whom the warning is addressed are both current and former presidential candidates including Akhmad Kadyrov, Khusein Jabrailov, Aslambek Aslakhanov, and Malik Saidullayev.
The list also includes Abdul-Kerim Arsakhanov, chairman of the Chechen Election Commission, and Abdul-Khakim Sultygov, President Putin's special envoy for human rights protection in the Chechen Republic.
"The Sharia court has begun an investigation of these traitors, after which sentencing will be imposed and carried out as soon as possible. No one will be able to escape it," the document states.
Maskhadov was elected President of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria in 1997. (T/E) |
