Girl suspected of links with Beslan terrorists releasedRuslan Isayev, North Caucasus – Ingushetian resident, Marina Korigova, detained a month ago on suspicion of being connected with the terrorists who besieged the school in Beslan, was released on Wednesday.
The 16-year-old girl was released from a remand prison in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia, on the grounds of insufficient evidence. Her condition is satisfactory and she is now with her family.
According to lawyer Sharip Tepsayev, Korigova has no complaints regarding her treatment, although it is not known whether her family will lodge a complaint against the security forces who detained her without sufficient evidence.
Korigova was detained at the beginning of November in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkariya, where she was studying at a builders’ college. The reason given for her arrest was that her telephone number was found in the memory of a mobile phone belonging to one of the terrorists killed in the siege: her village neighbor, Tsechoyev.
Korigova was held for a month in the Vladikavkaz remand prison although there was no evidence of her involvement with the terrorists and the terrorist attack. Tsechoyev really did have her telephone number - he had called her to ask about his family - but this was not an offense on the part of Korigova. (U/T)
