Putin in Paris: Russia in Chechnya is the same as U.S: in AfghanistanParis - Pres.Putin rejected on Tuesday critique of Russia's action in
separatistic Chechnya, saying during his visit in Paris that these
actions are comparable with conducted by Americans operation in
Afghanistan.
At the press conference Jacque Chirac was encouraging Putin to resume
talks with Chechen separatists and was stressing that conflict in
Chechnya "can not be seen only as terroristic aspect".
Resuming critique against Russia, which have been stopped after Sep.
11, the American State Departament announced last week, that there
are signals of "constant human rights violations" in Chechnya.
But, Putin during second visit in Paris, was trying to convince that
Moscow has the right to use force in Chechnya.
"September 11th, the world had shaken, because the attack on WTC was
a crime against humanity. But, Russia was shaken much earlier, when
hundreds of people perished in explosions of Moscow's apartaments" -
said Putin, talking about blasts in Moscow and in other Russian
cities, where around 300 people have perished. Moscow blames these
attacks on Chechen separatists.
" The blood of Russians who perished in Moscow has the same color as
the blood of people who got killed on September 11th" - said Putin.
