Marsho gives first performance abroad

(Prague Watchdog) - On the first day after their arrival to the Czech Republic, the Chechen children dance group Marsho gave here their first performance abroad.

On January 7, the children first visited the Prague Castle and then they met with Prague bishop Václav Malý. „I welcome you also as a person who was in Chechnya personally and knows the situation there," said Malý, who visited the North Caucasian republic half a year ago (see PW's report of July 31, 2002). Chechen children showed dance in pairs and in the end Malý shook hands with each of them.

In late afternoon Marsho gave its first performance abroad. „The children were very natural. They seemed to have almost no stage fright, although they several times admitted having the jitters,“ said Jana Hradilkova of the organizing Berkat association.

The performance was shot by the nationwide Czech Television and it will be broadcast on Thursday within its cultural programme.
